Falah
Terms of use

The terms that come with a free, offline prayer app.

Short version: Falah is free to use, it calculates prayer times rather than certifying them, and the Qur’an text inside it is reproduced from a verified source. The full terms are below.

Agreement

These terms apply between you and Aptagon Technologies (“we”, “us”), the publisher of the Falah mobile app and of this website. By installing or using Falah you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the app.

Licence to use

Falah is provided free of charge. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use it on devices you own or control, for your own use. There is no subscription, no paid tier, and no in-app purchase.

Prayer times are calculated, not certified

Falah computes prayer times astronomically, from your position, the date, and the calculation convention you select. Its results are verified against reference implementations to within about a minute, but a calculation is not a religious ruling.

Communities legitimately differ on method, on the Asr shadow ratio, on twilight angles at high latitudes, and on how the Hijri date is fixed. Where the app disagrees with your mosque or your local religious authority, follow your mosque or authority. Please treat the app as an aid to your practice, and verify against local timings if a matter is important to you.

Times also depend on your phone: on its clock, on its time zone, and on whether the operating system allows the app to schedule an exact alarm. Battery-saving features on some devices can delay or suppress notifications entirely, which is outside our control. There is guidance on this in Support.

Qibla direction

The compass reads your device's magnetometer. Its accuracy depends on the sensor and on your surroundings; metal, magnets, vehicles, and phone cases with magnetic mounts all distort a magnetic reading. Use it as a guide, and confirm the direction another way when precision matters.

Qur'an text and other content

The Arabic Qur'an text in the app is the Uthmani text of the Tanzil Project, reproduced verbatim under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 licence, and checked against a second authority before each release. We take the accuracy of this text extremely seriously; if you believe you have found an error in it, please write to us and we will investigate promptly.

City and town data comes from GeoNames under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence. The typefaces are licensed under the SIL Open Font License. Full attributions are on the credits page.

Our brand and code

The Falah name, the app icon, the wordmark, the interface design, and the app's own code remain the property of Aptagon Technologies, all rights reserved. You may not copy them, publish a modified version of the app, or present it as your own. Nothing here restricts your rights in the third-party content described above, which stays under its own licence.

Acceptable use

Please do not attempt to decompile, tamper with, or redistribute the app; do not remove the attributions it displays; and do not use it in a way that breaks the law where you are.

Availability and updates

We may release updates that change, add, or remove features. We may also stop publishing the app. Because Falah works offline, a version already installed keeps functioning without us: it needs no service from us to calculate your times.

No warranty

Falah is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that every calculated time will match your local convention.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of the app, including a missed prayer or a missed notification. Some jurisdictions do not permit certain exclusions; where that is the case, our liability is limited to the minimum the law permits. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

App stores

If you install Falah from Google Play or the Apple App Store, that store's own terms apply to the download as well. Those stores are not parties to this agreement and are not responsible for the app; Apple in particular is not obliged to furnish any support for it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and the courts of Pakistan will have jurisdiction over any dispute, without affecting any statutory rights you have as a consumer where you live.
